Busy intersections scene of deadly truck accident
Accidents involving semi-trucks or other large vehicles frequently result in serious injuries or death. The seriousness of truck accidents is not necessarily indicative of fault, but trucks, by virtue of their size and weight, are dangerous weapons on the road. Even when victims survive a truck accident, they may be left with life-long, severe injuries that require more than a quick hospital visit.
Victims may need long-term physical therapy or may be unable to continue working at their job. Compensation for injuries is available and for truck accident victims damages can cover these extra medical costs or even lost wages. Likewise, if a victim is killed, that person&s family may be able to collect damages for the loss as well.
One person in Illinois recently died and another went to the hospital after a truck accident in Bureau County. The accident between a semi-truck and car happened during the early evening hours on a Wednesday.
According to the Bureau County Sheriff&s Department, the female driver of the car ran through a stop sign an intersection and the semi-truck hit the passenger side of the car. The 63-year-old driver of the car was seriously injured and another woman, a 48-year-old passenger in the car, died as a result of the accident.
The intersection where the accident occurred is often a busy intersection and close to the local high school.
Authorities believe that the driver of the car was a contract delivery carrier for the local newspaper. The initial reports did not pinpoint an exact cause of the accident but a publisher of the newspaper pointed out the recent poor road conditions, as well as how much time these carriers spend in their vehicles. While this accident may not have been due to the truck driver&s negligence, victims of accidents like these can seek counsel from an Illinois trucking accident attorney. If a truck driver negligently causes an accident, the victim may be able to recover damages through a personal injury lawsuit. A victim can also add the trucking company as a defendant if the company acted negligently in any way. Examples of negligent behavior include failure to maintain vehicles or properly train drivers.
