Illinois State Trooper hurt in car accident
The legal steps to take after a car accident truly depend on the seriousness of the accident. Some accidents result in significant injuries and property damage. Fatal accidents are even more complicated, from a legal perspective. An attorney can help answer questions that victims or their families may have following an accident.
A recent car crash on I-74 in Illinois left a state trooper injured. According to officials, the trooper&s squad car was parked on the right side of the road. The trooper had stopped his car in order to assist with another earlier accident in the nearby ditch.
Officials say that the Illinois State Trooper had his squad car lights on at the time of the accident. He also apparently had a flare ignited to warn oncoming traffic. A driver in a pickup truck somehow lost control of his car and rear-ended the trooper&s squad car. The impact shoved the squad car into the ditch and into the car from the original accident.
Drunk driver causes chain reaction crash in Chicago
Accidents are always tough when the victims are unsuspecting and undeserving. Victims of drunk driving accident often fall into this category since it is not their fault that a driver chose to drink and get behind the wheel of a car. Drivers who make such a choice are putting everyone else at risk.
One such man is now charged with misdemeanor DUI after an early morning weekday crash in the West Town neighborhood in Chicago. Seven people were injured because of his actions. According to law enforcement officials, the man apparently crashed his car into another car and caused a chain-reaction of events. The man was travelling at a high rate of speed just before the crash. Two additional vehicles were damages in the incident.
The seven injured victims were taken to local hospitals and treated. Four of their conditions ranged from serious to critical to stable, while the other three were listed in either stable or good condition.
In addition to the DUI charge, the 29-year-old driver was also cited for failure to reduce speed. His next court appearance is scheduled for March.
Busy intersections scene of deadly truck accident
Accidents involving semi-trucks or other large vehicles frequently result in serious injuries or death. The seriousness of truck accidents is not necessarily indicative of fault, but trucks, by virtue of their size and weight, are dangerous weapons on the road. Even when victims survive a truck accident, they may be left with life-long, severe injuries that require more than a quick hospital visit.
Victims may need long-term physical therapy or may be unable to continue working at their job. Compensation for injuries is available and for truck accident victims damages can cover these extra medical costs or even lost wages. Likewise, if a victim is killed, that person&s family may be able to collect damages for the loss as well.
One person in Illinois recently died and another went to the hospital after a truck accident in Bureau County. The accident between a semi-truck and car happened during the early evening hours on a Wednesday.
Woman claims premises liability injury in Illinois Wal-Mart
With the last round of winter storms and cold weather, Illinois residents know that it is dangerous outside. Sidewalks and roads are covered with ice and snow, which make them quite slippery. But outside slip and falls are not the only concern.
A woman took a fall inside a Wal-Mart in Collinsville, Illinois and claims that she was injured in the fall. The accident happened in May of 2012. According to the woman&s legal complaint, she was shopping at the Wal-Mart when she says that she slipped in some spilled dish soap.
The woman&s complaint also says that Wal-Mart failed in its duty to create a safe place for shopping and that the store failed to warm its customers of the dangerous spill on the floor. Wal-Mart responded to the complaint and denied the allegations. The company specifically denies the fact that the woman&s fall was the proximate result of Wal-Mart&s negligence. Wal-Mart also disagreed to the extent of the woman&s claimed injuries and damages. She is asking for a judgment of more than $50,000 for injuries to her shoulder and knee.
Impaired Chicago driver pleads guilty in fatal crash
When it comes to negligent drivers and driving under the influence, frequently the focus is on drunk drivers and drunk driving accidents. But driving under the influence does not necessarily have to entail over-consumption of alcohol. Driving under the influence of drugs is also illegal and drivers who act accordingly may be legally liable for any damages that result from their behavior.
A truck driver from Chicago was recently sentenced to prison time after he killed a woman in a car accident while under the influence of marijuana. The 37-year- old man was handed a four-year prison sentence after he pleaded guilty to the count of aggravated driving under the influence of drugs.
The accident occurred in August of 2009. The victim was stopped due to traffic on Interstate 90 and Illinois Highway 53. As she was stopped, the semi-truck driver crashed into the back of her car and left her a quadriplegic. The woman sadly passed away just over a year later.
Fourth time not a charm for driver in drunk driving accident
Drunk drivers may try to avoid police officers but one man&s track record shows that it is not easy to drive drunk without getting caught. A Barrington, Illinois man who has three previous convictions for drunk driving decided to drive under the influence again and he found himself in a new kind of trouble.
The man actually rear-ended a Lake County Sheriff&s cruiser. The DUI accident occurred on Prospect Avenue in Grayslake around 8 p.m. on a weekday night. The 39-year-old driver crashed into the back of the stopped patrol car, which was stopped on Illinois Highway 83.

Two-year old girl killed by two dogs in Chicago
Those injured by the carelessness of another party may have legal recourse options to consider.
A two-year old girl was recently killed following an attack by pit bulls in Chicago. The autopsy of the little girl revealed that her death resulted from multiple injuries blamed on the dog attack, however, there were also signs of neglect. The girl was being cared for by her grandfather at the time of the attack. The two dogs that attacked the girl have been seized by local animal control authorities.
Dog bite law in Wisconsin holds pet owners strictly liable for the injuries the pet owner&s animal causes. This means that in the event of a dog attack, if a victim is injured or killed, the owner will be liable for damages to the victim or victim&s family through a personal injury or wrongful death lawsuit. Additionally in Wisconsin, if the pet owner had knowledge of the dog&s propensity to bite, the pet owner may be liable to the victim, or victim&s family, for double the amount of damages.
Single child injured in Chicago car accident
Every now and then, a car accident occurs that reminds drivers why it is so important to use caution and care when behind the wheel. A recent Illinois car accident between a school bus and a car left a young child injured.

According to law enforcement, shortly after 3 p.m., the driver of the car was travelling south when she failed to stop at a stop sign. One minor child was injured in the crash, and transported to a nearby hospital. Her condition was stable at the time. It is unclear whether the school bus was carrying any children or if the minor child was a passenger in the other car.
Victims of serious car accidents, or their loved ones, can talk with an Illinois car accident lawyer about options for recovery and their right to compensation. There are a number of issues that need to be addressed in a legal claim. Lawyers can analyze traffic citations and rules of the road. A full recovery should also address medical expenses and other related costs that occurred as a result of the accident and another driver&s negligence.
Slip and fall at Walmart leads to premises liability suit
There&s a good chance that just about any Chicago resident reading this blog post has shopped at one of our hometown Walmart stores, either the Walmart Supercenter off North and Cicero or perhaps the Walmart Neighborhood Market in the Loop. Customers would not typically think of a trip to a major national chain store like Walmart as a particularly risky venture. However, a recent story from one of the chain&s southern U.S. locations illustrates that accidents can happen anywhere and can leave victims in a difficult situation.
The accident took place when a Walmart shopper happened to slip and fall on a wet floor where some liquid had apparently been spilled. As a result of the accident, the victim suffered pain and mental anguish; he also incurred medical expenses and lost out on wages while recovering from the accident. The victim claims that there was no warning of the dangerous condition and has recently filed a lawsuit against Walmart for failure to maintain the premises at the store.
Odd car accident started with sneeze
Civil lawsuits surrounding motor vehicle accidents often hinge on the issue of liability and who or what caused the crash. In car accidents, in order to allocate responsibility for the crash, it is often necessary to pinpoint negligence. When a driver in Illinois fails to use reasonable care under the circumstances and causes an accident, that driver may be negligent.
In a lawsuit against a driver for damages, a judge or jury will consider various factors to determine whether or not the driver acted negligently. Proof that the driver disobeyed traffic laws, that the driver was speeding at the time of the accident or driving under the influence are all good pieces of evidence to demonstrate negligence.
Careless or distracted driving can be another basis for a finding of negligence as well. Drivers who negligently cause an accident may have to pay damages and compensate anyone injured in the car crash for things like medical expenses, time away from work and even pain and suffering.
